Wellington Retreat
Our son was given poor treatment and we believe he was over medicated by Dr. Moran

We pretty much had the same experience as the first person with regards to Wellington Retreat. My son was in bad shape when he got there and we had little choice. Wellington was the only place that would take my son and continue him on his medication of suboxone.

He was also put on several other very strong medications as well. Most of them we were not informed about until after he was already taking them. The doctors and therapist made us feel like criminals if we called to inquire about our son or his plan of treatment. Wellington likes to say " The families are part of team" Thats all BS wait until you try to find out anything, get a return call or e-mail from anyone.

Dr. Moran and his team seem good at first and when you are the parent of a drug addict or mentally ill child you don't know where to turn and Wellington Retreat uses that to their advantage. I cannot count how many times that Wellington dropped the ball on my sons care or didn't follow up when they said they would.

Councilors come and go so fast its hard to keep track and they really pack them in there. I know its not easy to care for these type of patients but Wellington does not return phone calls or e-mails for the most part and if they do they berate you if you ask about your child's well being or care under them. My son finally had enough of the mind games and was dirty and unkept. Wellington would not let us give him toiletries we sent him so he could wash before looking for work.

The box of toiletries are they are still there as is his medical insurance card. My son finally reached his braking point when Dr. Moran followed him into the bathroom to tell my son he was going back to in patient and he either did that immediately or had to be out in an hour. He is no longer there and the new facility is much less crowded. They return calls and e-mails and he is no longer completely isolated.

Over all I think Wellington and there so called treatment plan did more harm than good. My son is completely addicted to the drugs they prescribed and we are having a real hard time convincing my son that that was the wrong approach Wellington used with over medicating for compliance.

We are now trying to get him off of all the drugs that Wellington got him hooked on Once your child is in the Wellington system good luck getting any information about him or her. All you get is same BS line about they will die if you inquire about them or try to visit. I was really disappoint to find out the truth about the care at Wellington.

They got me and my wife to drink the cool aid at first and buy into all their BS. Any councilor who doesn't do exactly what they are told by Dr. Moran gets the ax.in 3 months I cannot tell you how many councilors my son got bounced to.

This place is an accident waiting to happen and its just a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt or injured under their care. Parents beware they will kick your kids to the curb the minute they don't comply and let your child die in street. Many a child has spent the night or weekend on the street when they dared question the mighty Dr. Moran and his band of so called therapists.

They are drug addicts or the mentally ill and they are still your children regardless of their disease. Wellington needs to really rethink their approach and start to treat the person not the symptoms. You would want your pet to be treated the way Wellington treats the children under their care.
