Complaint / review text:
I have united health insurance and am suppose to receive a health savings account thru optum bank. There is money in the account but optum bank has been giving me the runaround about sending me my card to use for medical expenses. I've called optum bank and was told they needed additonal documentation in order to process my account and that a letter was sent to my home. I have not received a letter from optum bank requesting additional info. I asked them why additonal info was needed and they told me that they could not give me the information.
I called them again and was told they needed a copy of a utiltiy bill, a copy of my drivers license, and a copy of my social security card. I faxed a copy to optum and received a confirmation that the fax was received. I then called optum again to confirm that fax was received and was told that faxes would not be checked for 48 hrs. The other employees where i work were not asked for additional information regarding the hsa health account. I contacted united health and they were of no help. I was told to call the bank regarding the hsa account. I am not able to purchase my prescriptions because the bank won't release the hsa card for me to use even though their is money in the account.
My employer contributes to the hsa account. If i don't receive a response soon i will need to contact a legal aide attorney for assistance. Optum bank needs to be investigated because i wonder how many other people have had problems with optum bank
