I was pressure sold into purchasing a contract agreement for personal training at my local gym with Custom Built Personal training. I was over-sold with 4 sessions per month and contracted for the year. I was extremely hesitant because the contract said that in order to cancel you had to pay a fine and it was possible at the time that I could be facing upcoming layoff from work and would be unable to pay. The manager that was selling me at the time stated that it was no problem, that Custom Built totally understood the economy as it was right now and that if something like this happened they'd have no problem changing my contract or canceling it at any time should I be laid off or some similar life changing event happen. I was assured of this.
Now, I have been laid off and have contacted the local manager and head-courters in Atlanta customer service and not only was I told there would be a 250$ fee, regardless of what I was told at sign up, and also that if I did not comply they would send me to collections, ruin my credit and try to interfere with my relationship with my gym (InShape City) and my membership there. I believe I was over sold on my contract and sold it under duress and with misinformation and lies and now they're not willing to honor it - in fact with rudeness and attitude they said that I was given a contract and if I was pressured into signing it it is not there problem
