Practical CME - Gregory P Zengo MD Impractical CME - Dont be Fooled by Website

I recently attended a couple of courses of Practical CME in Fort Lauderdale, to my disgust the courses were an infomercial for various vendors but mainly Practical CME. Dr. Gregory Zengo is a fraud of greatest proportion in that he is continually promoting his own products that he has a commercial interest in via Dan Kennedy. The weekend started with a poor and dangerous representation for BioIdentical Hormone Replacement, his material is very outdated and has no real formal training concerning this discipline.

His analysis of various peri-menstrual conditions among women is trial and error which is evident in his case studies and results. His OBGYN background seems to be his crutch in qualifying to teach HRT and I found it to be very elementary and IMPRACTICAL to incorporate in my practice. There was very little knowledge gained concerning the feedback mechanisms of these various hormone replacements which is very dangerous when trying to prescribe for your patients. I guess what bothered me more than anything else is his self righteous attitude and contempt toward other primary care and Internal Medicine physicians was evident whenever confronted or contradicted on his materials presented.

The other courses attended on Evidenced Based Weight Loss and Sclerotherapy were equally disappointing in content and teaching. The weight loss did not include any of the newer topics such as hCG Diet or on bariatric medicine which Dr. Zengo is not boarded in or is an expert thereof. Dr. Zengo promoted his own power smoothies, protein shakes and special supplements while ignoring the clinical approach to a weight loss patient and possible contraindications of various diets. The course was full of commercial bias and promotion where you could purchase his forms and consents separately, have dinner with Dr. Zenga (who doesn't need dinner), and his own marketing/promotion kit for a special discounted price.

I should have left the conference after these (2) courses but since I paid his special price for the week I thought I would see if I could learn anything concerning various leg vein treatments. I was not disappointed as he dazzled us with his words of wisdom of shooting while injecting which is both ridiculous and dangerous in approaching reticular veins. His self promotion of his other products continued and continually bashed laser leg vein treatments which was to be part of the lecture. I guess the only pearl I received from this course was to offer compression stockings as a revenue center for my practice what a salesman!

I am still serious about creating additional revenues for my practice. I have attended some very good courses at American Medical Training and found Arik Anderson and Leo Capabianco, MD to be very good at what they do compared to this "rip-off". After confronting Dr. Zenga with my thoughts his only response was that I attended the courses so therefore he was not obligated to refund or compromise. His guarantee is as phony as he is and you could receive better and safer information by reading Web-MD on the internet. I have complained to his accreditation company (AAFP) and to the AACME for his sales antics and commercial interest and will continue to try to inform other physicians of this fraud / want-to-be expert and above all watch your wallet!
