Not refunding money owed to patient

I went to the doctor's office on 10/30th to request my refund of $800 for services not rendered and was asked to allow time for review of my account. I was contacted by doctor's office on 11/5th and told that my check was in the mail and I should receive it by 11/10th. After not receiving a return phone call on 11/25th, I went to the doctor's office to discuss nonreceipt of payment. I was then told that my refund was not issued due to lack of business and cash-flow problems. I was kicked out of the office when I demanded my refund. I am now seeking legal action.
