I responded to an e-mail solicitation offering me a free trail of Acai Berry as a cleanser. I gave my debit card for the charge of $5.95 for shipping and handling. I carefully rerad every detail to make usre I was not entering some revolving product program, where they will than send me more product every month for a rediculous price (have been ripped off by that once before). It clearly stated that there is nothing more and no more charges ever.
A few weeks later there was a charge by them on my debit card for $88.42. I even got a call from Visa Fraud Protection asking me if I authorized this charge, before the charge even appeared on my statement and got cleared by the bank. That is how I even became aware of the charge at all. I immediately called my bank and had to cancel my card, but now I have to go through a whole process and not sure if I will ever get credited for this, because debit cards do not work like credit cards and despite the factthat Visa Fraud Protection was the one that picked up on it for me. I would participate in any action and cooperate in any effort that would make companies like these pay for their fraudulent activities and that would stop them from operating.
