I fell victim to some high pressure sales pitches and signed up for a 1 year training plan. It sounded good at first, but I quickly learned that it was a ripoff.
When I could not get the one good trainer they have, I would sign up with other trainers. On two seperate appointments I signed up with a trainer only to find out that they did not work there anymore. I complained after the first issue. The second one is the best though. I drive to the gym and wait by the pro results desk for 10 minutes. The whole time there are three guys in blue shirts up front talking. I go up to them and ask about my appointment. The boss goes "oh yeah he got fired". Then he goes and talks on his cell phone. Nobody else volunteers to help me or do the session.
I call and complain and tell them I want to cancel my contract as it was not worth the $320 a month and they were not meeting their end of the deal. They say that a GM would call me. Before I talk to the GM, he is already jumping down the throat of the one good guy they have at the gym. Telling everybody about my issue which should have been kept private.
When I find this out I tell them that I want out of the contract. They state that I have to pay half of it to buy it out but I will get to use the sessions. I say fine, and offer to pay over $1000. Just before paying the guy on the phone says wait a second, I need to put you on hold. He comes back about 5 minutes later and tells me that he won't give me any sessions because as part of my contract I got free sessions.
Now note that I have 22 sessions that still have not been used. They gave me 34 free to begin with and I would have been paying with the buyout for 32 sessions. So how does 22 32 - 34 = 0 I ask him. And how is taking my sessions from me make me feel valued as a customer? He says it is in the fine print.
So I guess I am supposed to pay for bad service at a gym where I dont feel comfortable working out.
I will be cancelling my cards that they withdraw from immediately.
