Today, 10/30/08, there is a charge on my credit card account for $29.95. I called the telephone number that appeared on my credit card transaction report (800-660-8489) and spoke to an insolent young woman who argued with me about the charge, telling me I "had the chance" to cancel the transation before I entered my credit card information for the shipping fee. This is an outright lie. She told me I had signed up for a "subscription" to their weight loss plan and I owed them this amount every month. I responded that I did NOT, under any conditions, agree to any such thing. I stayed on the line with her, insisting she credit my account in full. I had to repeat myself several times as she would not respond (I thought she had hung up on me). She finally relented, committing to a full credit "on the next credit card cycle."
We'll see what happens about this. Meanwhile, I'm calling my credit card company to report this scam.
