EMCARE RSN & Richardson Regional Medical Center False Surgery Charges Then Reported to Collection Agencies Philadelphia, Dallas

In Oct. my son, a minor, scratched his cornea during an accident and taken to Richardson Regional Medical Center (RMC), which my health insurance, NALC, pays 100% and unbeknowing to me, the contract non-PPO doctor from EMCARE RSN would be paid 70%. EMCARE submits a surgical bill to NALC, which then required me to pay a large portion of the bill because it was classified as a "surgery" and RMC, too, is paid a portion.

I informed NALC that it was not a surgery and my son was released that same night before 12 midnight yet my bill included overnight stay and was told that I probably had charges for meals during his stay, even though I informed NALC that I put money in the vending machine but somehow, meals may have been added to my bill.

I repeatedly informed NALC something was wrong and they provided no guidance, whatsoever. Imagine, your own health plan that receives your payment, doesn't vouch for you as a client.By that time, RMC wanted the balance due, and so did EM CARE, I repeatedly contacted them that there was a huge error with the bill and that it may take a while to resolve; however, both chose to ignored me and both submitted my outstanding debt to their respective collection agencies.

I then appealed my bill to Washington DC and they requested documents from my son's treatment, which I complied. A few months later, they supported my position and ordered NALC to properly process my medical claim as an accident. Both EM CARE and RMC were compensated but not until RMC's collection agency submitted the debt to Experian (credit report agency).

Although the credit report reflects that it was paid (not by me), still businesses notice the entry when I try to get credit. I did send a copy to TransUnion, Equifax and Experian of what was happening; however, presently, only one made such an entry of this collection. Two years later, I still get collection letters but from EMCARE's agency. To avoid this fiasco, I don't go RMC anymore; however, they should take some responsibility and be held accountable for contracting EMCARE and of their accounting practices.
