Refused emergency treatment ripoff

46 I started getting a tooth ache after work. I went down to western dental on Saturday, 4/7. The soonest they could get me in was Monday.

Saturday the tooth hurt bad and Sunday morning I woke up with the whole side of my face swelled up with infection. This broke open Monday morning while brushing my teeth and began draining infection in my mouth.

I went down for my appointment at noon. They took my check as soon as I hit the door and made sure it was good, then X rayed my whole mouth. I told the person taking the X rays that my gum had broken open and was draining. I was then put into a dental chair and waited for the doctor.

The dentist came in and flipped my chart open. Sore tooth, possible abcess was all that was written on the chart. He then pointed to my X rays and told me I had quite an infection going on there and proceded to examine my mouth while calling out codes to an assistant. He even had his fingers on a thick line of infection that went along my gum and up into my cheek which was still badly swollen.

After the exam he left and another lady came in and told me it would cost between four and seven thousand dollars to fix my teeth and began to pressure me into signing a contract. She told me they knew my credit was good and also said they could get started right then as I was already in the chair. I knew they could do nothing until the infection was cleared up.

The pressure to sign a contract continued until I took the bib off and stood up. We went out into the lobby and the lady started the pressure to sign a contract again. At this time I asked about medication to clear up the infection.

She told me she would check with the doctor to see what he felt should be done first and would check to see if the doctor felt I needed medication.

She came back and said the doctor wanted to start pulling some teeth first and started to pressure me to sign the contract again. I told her I had to pay off some things first. I ask her if there was anything else and she said no, we were done and I could leave. I left with no perscription and still draining infection into my mouth.
