LA Fitness contract agreed to in 2001. I followed Contract cancellation instructions that are actually "in bold" on front side of contract "how to notify". However, very small print on back states all notifications need to be "certified or registered mail".
I sent per "bold instructions" notification to address per instructions in bold 1/4. No response to date as of 4/14/05- no returned mail, etc. Today I called and home address has changed to "Irvine address". Called local fitness center and they state, yeah you need to give notice via certified to new address - you can get this from us" - Irvine corp office lets you speak to someone if you know their extension otherwise tells you to call local gym - local gym can't cancel your contract.
This is a ripoff bigtime! No response to my letter cancelling agreement, no returned mail stating "no longer at this address" (be curious to find out if LA Fitness filed a "forwarding address" with postal office), local gym stating nothing they can do if I don't have certified/registered receipt.
I just filed for State Tax amnesty via regular mail and they got my mail. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's experienced this problem yet LA Fitness seems to have lost mail that went to the address they referred to in the contract I signed.
