On Sunday, September 11th, I went to the MARS Supermarket in Aberdeen for lunchmeat. I went to get both turkey and ham. The young woman in the deli sliced my turkey and then I asked her for Eskay Gold Label ham. She pulled out a plastic bag and said "this meat was sliced earlier today" I was shocked! I said I did not want the previous sliced meat and I left. I went to the service counter to ask for a manager and one was not available. I then called back and spoke with the manager (Dave), who said this was not their policy, but I felt he didn't take my concern seriously.
I then went online and filled out a request, but it didn't appear to save, so the next day (since the Corporate office was closed), I called and spoke with Karen, who said my complaint/concern was received and I would be contacted. After not hearing anything for 5 days, I called back and Karen put me in touch with JoAnn. She was surprised JoAnn had not called. JoAnn said that was not her policy, but she also didn't seem concerned, so I asked for someone else. She said someone would call me back. Later that day, Jim called me and he became frustrated and said "well, I was told you weren't shopping anymore at MARS anyway, so it's no big deal!" I then hung up and e-mailed the Corporate office again, and while I was out shopping, I received a voice mail from Jim apologizing for his remarks, saying he was frustrated and didn't know what to do and in his 44 years, this was the first time he said anything inappropriate. He apologized again. I shopped at MARS for over 10 years, but will NEVER do so again! Please be careful when purchasing any lunchmeat!
