When I scheduled the appointment I had already identified the part number that needed to be replaced. It cost $65.09 on searspartsdirect.com, which I printed out. I asked how much to install and the operator said $70 for the visit and it would be no more than $150. The appointment was between 8-12 and the technician arrived at 6:10pm. He replaced the part in 15 minutes and charged me $324. The charge for the part was $87.87, more than $20 extra.
I called customer service and asked to talk to his supervisor but nobody would help. He said it was the standard install cost for the part to be installed. My options were to pay him $70 and have him remove the part, which I could puchase and install on my own or pay. He was put into a very difficult situation by his company and they completely overcharge for services. I will of course never call or use sears home repairs again.in addition, I will warn everyone I know to do the same.
