We purchased a Whirlpool washer from Best Buy and paid extra for a 5 year repair service plan. The machine is 4 years old now and began giving us trouble in April of this year. The machine became loud, vibrated a lot and had a very loud clunking noise on occasion. At times it would move around in the utility room.

The first service tech diagnosed it as having debris in the lint trap. He said he removed it and it would be OK. Well, it still vibrated and made the occasional clunk. After a month or two It got worse so we called them back out. This time he said the drain pump (which contains the lint trap) was bad. He cam back a week later and replaced the pump. The machine continued to vibrate, clunk and move. The next service tech said it was out of level. I told him that being out of level was a result of it's vibrating so violently. He said to try it. It still vibrated, clunked and moved around. Best Buy told us that they were 'junking the machine out' and would issue a card for a replacement but the man had to come back one more time. Same guy that leveled it shows up. Now he says "it needs a new bellows". We called and complained that this is ridiculous. Eventually spoke with the service manager (Chris, #206477). He tells us that the previous complaints were for unrelated issues and that he would not authorize a replacement! Same problem, 7 visits, 7 times of having to leave work to meet the guy who cannot fix the machine!

Don't waste your money on Best Buy extended warrantees!
