RHEEM Tankless Water Heaters
Warning—do not buy rheem tankless water heaters

WARNING—DO NOT BUY RHEEM TANKLESS WATER HEATERSI bought a Rheem Tankless PTG-74PVP-1 for about $1,500.00. And see what happened to me. Had it installed and it worked for a week and the circuit board burned out. I know this because the Rheem technition said the code on the pannel showed that the circuit board was defective and they have had a lot of these problems as the manufacturer provided them with a lot of bad circuit boards. So After three phone calls and a letter they finally sent the replacement of the defective part, BUT required that I agree to return the defective part to Rheem. They said they had no service people in my area BUT They promised to reimburse me for the cost of installation repair of the circuit board.“Just send back the old part and tell us what it cost to repair the unit with the new circuit board and we will send you a check.”AND I BELIEVED THEM.—foolish me. What a joke. I did what they said but never heard from them. This started in September and in December I called Rheem and finally got to a Vice President of the company. Now I had to get certified invoices from my plumber and had to send then a copy of my check and an explanation. So I did that also but guess what. Nothing happened. So I called the VP again and then a month later they send me a check for a portion of the paid invoice. Warning. Don’t buy rheem. So far I have spent $1500.00 for this unit and spent $800.00 to have it installed and now I spent another $230.00 to install the defective part and once installed and working, the unit blew out the plumbing due to an internal o ring failure caused by the burned out circuit board. So now I have $6,000.00 damages from water and they send me $150.00 towards the plumbers bill to install that defective part... And they don’t take my calls. Thus my warning. My prior hot water heater lasted 25 years and I replaced it with the Rheem tankless, beleiving their advertising promotions... A joke? They have cost me over $8530. And hundreds of hours of lost wasted time. Those are the facts. Deal with them at your peril. Good Luck. Im posting this as a warning to anyone who is thinking of dealing with Rheem. Maybe in a perfect world it will work but not for me. KennyG in Lynnfield MA Feb
