The Camera Shoppe, 533 Decatur Street, New Orleans, LOUISIANA 70130 bought a Blackberry Curve 8900 phone from the shop while visiting New Orleans as a tourist in July. I was then a Visiting Scholar at Louisiana State University. The price was very steep at USD490.50 because according to the vendor it was an unlocked phone. So I am paying for an unlocked phone that could be used worldwide. I recently realised (as I had kept the phone until I come home to Malaysia) I was cheated by the vendor as the phone is locked by Movistar, a Spanish mobile provider. Thus, I could not use the blackberry features and could not subscribe to Blackberry Messenger. I understood from my provider here in Malaysia that the pin has been suspended by MOVISTAR the provider of the phone I bought. Thus it has raised doubt if the phone sold to me was new or used. I hope by filing a consumer complaints other innocent tourists will not be cheated by the above unscrupulous vendor.
