I did my research before I bought my new vacuum cleaner in 2007. Consumers Reports recommended Sears Kenmore Progressive. I bought it for my cottage. I paid over 300.00. It worked for almost 2 summers. It quit sucking in after very little use, because it was at my cottage. It sat in the garage for almost 1 year. My husband said throw it away, but because it was expensive, I decided to get it fixed. I took it to be repaired in June of this year. I told them that they needed to call me for anything over $50.00. They did. They said it needed a new motor and it would be 129.00. Unbelievable for a vacuum that had been used less than 20 times. What do you do when it already cost more than 300.00? I told them to repair it. When my husband just went to pick it up, I had already paid 39.00 to have it looked at so I figured I owed 90.00 something, they said it would be 124.95.
He called me and I spoke to a manager and told her they could keep the piece of crap vaccuum. She looked into it and said we only owed 94.00. My husband paid it. At the same time he was purchasing a 525.00 air conditioner. I told him that that is our last purchase from Sears. And it will be. Do not buy a Sears Kenmore Progressive Vacuum Cleaner!!!
