REBATE RIPOFFS Scam & fraudent tactics to make a sale

I signed up for Direct TV in August as I still have the paperwork. My prior account #38919471.in looking through my paperwork, I have notes all over my statements for issues with Direct TV at that time with a cash back and a bonus gift I never received. The gift was an ipod. The next issue with Direct TV was the $100 referral program. I referred my friends Somerset, WI and throughout the whole year they had service with Direct TV, they tried several times contact Direct TV to give them the information needed in order to get me my $100 for referring them. Once again, I never did see the $100. My friends were disgusted in this and quit Direct TV as soon as their one year contract was up. I also quit Direct TV as I was out of state for work.

In October of I had a friend move from Arizona up here to look for a job. I decided to get satellite service again for her as it would be boring without TV. I was working 7 days a week, 12 hours a day with an hour commute each way so I didnt need to watch TV as I wasnt home long enough but to sleep. I decided to go back to Direct TV, even with all the prior problems and broken promises only because I still had the Direct TV satellite dish on my roof, and it the cable was already hooked up to each TV I wanted it to be. I have a newer house so I didnt want new holes on my roof or someone trampling through my house making a mess. I spoke to the Direct TV salesperson in October and explained the package I wanted. I believe it was for $39.95. The salesperson said I would get a free DVR. Free? What is so free about this DVR when you have to PAY to use it? You send it to me free, and I pay you to be able to use it, which was like $5.99 or something like that. What a joke. I said no. The salesman then said I would get 3 months free of Starz, Showtime, and some other channels. Once again, doesnt FREE mean you dont pay for them? He then briefly mentioned that I would have to fill out a rebate form. I told him I didnt have time for that. He promised me he would email this information to me. He promised! I gave him my email address and I never saw the information. So the installer comes on October 19 and hooks up the two boxes which again, let me remind you, I had your satellite dish already on the roof, your cable was already hooked up, it was just a mere plugging in the boxes and collaborating them. I received my first bill in November for $158.72. Again, no rebate information so too bad, Im not paying for something I didnt want or ask for and it was suppose to be FREE. I send a check for $43.00 as I figured this was the taxes on top of my package of $39.95.

A month went by, I received another bill for $190.83, and yesterday which was 1/04, my dish service was shut down. I called Direct TV, spoke to a representative, I explained to her the situation and she said I had to pay the bill to current before they would turn my services back on. I asked to be transferred to a manager and he too would not reason with me about this whole rebate situation and that these free channels were not free! Why should I have to pay $190.83 for free channels I didnt ask for but they provided me with for signing up and never gave me the email that was promised to me for some rebate. I was told I could have went online to find the information. I do not have time to watch TV not alone come home after 14 hours and search online for something. This is false advertising and a scam. There is nothing free about these channels. I told him I wanted to pay my balance to current, what I actually owe for, minus these so called free channels. The manager Alex said I had to pay the full amount due of $190.83. I told him I didnt owe this much. He transferred me to Christina who was a representative for the service connections department I guess you would call it. After explaining to Christina that I just wanted this $39.95 package, she said the representative was trying to do what was best for me and my needs. What did she just say? Christina then told me that I could have just gotten the $39.95 package. What? That is all I wanted! So this clown tells me he is going to give me 3 months free for signing up, briefly mentions a rebate form I need to fill out, never mentioned that I was going to be charged an additional $94.99 for it to begin with, I tried resolving the issue by stating I would pay what I owe for my package and be done with it.instead, Christina proceeds to tell me (again, not trying to resolve this or reasoning with me, the customer) that I will owe a $180.00 early termination fee.

Frustrated at this point I told her she will never see that money and that I would be mailing her a payment of what I owe for December on my package and that was it. So here I tried making things right and Direct TV would not negotiate and admit to any wrongdoing.By that I mean all this trouble, they were at fault, and they would not allow me to pay for what I owe for. The premium channels for 3 months were never free. I never got the rebate information mailed or emailed to me. And what a shock, Christina repeated both my and email address. How did she get that email address to begin with? The first representative who said he was going to email me the rebate information. Direct TV is nothing but a scam. I still have the documents from the first time I signed up with them and they promised me an ipod. What a lie that was and let us not forget the $100 referral. I never received that either.
