Gateway Computer Ripoff I did not get what I ordered the business that doesnt give a dam

Several weeks ago I purchased a new Gateway computer. As part of the package I ordered a 750MB INTERNAL ZIP drive. When the computer arrived it came with a 250MB EXTERNAL ZIP drive. I immediately called Gateway and told them of the mistake.

They said all they could do was send me the 750MB ZIP drive and e-mail me instructions on how to install it! The instructions were 66 pages long (using my printer, paper and ink to print these instructions) involving opening up the computers case, connecting all the wires and cables and making changes in the BIOS and changes to be made on the ZIP drives jumpers.

I told them I felt that was beyond my expertise to try and do something like this. They advised me that I could take it to one of their country stores and have it installed. I told them that the nearest store was 120 miles away and felt that since it was their mistake something else should be done. I requested that one of their contracted repair technitians, in my area, come to my home and install it.

Gateway said that since I did not purchase that type of warrantee that they could not do this. I reminded them that they were the ones to make this mistake, not me, and they should make accommodations to have this drive installed. After many e-mails they still refused to have it installed at my convenience. I have sent back the 750MB drive. (I notified them that I have sent it back and they said if they did not receive it within 7 business days they would charge me for it!).

The result of all of this is that I have a computer with something I did not order, did not receive what I ordered, the mistake was Gateways responsibility, I have requested that Gateway correct the mistake to the best of their ability, and Gateway has told me that I should be responsible to correct this mistake, at my expense and time.

Their customer service is terrible. They make the mistake and will not own up to it or go out of their way to correct it. What a way to run a business that is dependent on good customer relations.

I should have bought a DELL!
