We have had Direc tv for about 2.5 years total. About 7 months ago while living in Illinois, we were told that Direc tv was switching out all of their old receivers in the area and that we had to upgrade to new receivers or we would not get any signals... So they came out and switched out out new receivers. We then moved about 6 months later to a condo complex in Northern Kentucky. Before we moved we called Direc tv and told them we were going to move and we wanted to keep them. So they told us we had to pay a month in advance and then ctc them when we got to our new address. I sent them 95 dollars and then after we moved we found out from the condo president that satellite dishes were not allowed in the complex. We then called Direc tv and told them that we could not continue to use them and they said they would document our account and they werent sure if I would be charged for early cancellation. The guy then spent 30 minutes researching our account and he said we would not be charged, 1 for not having a choice in switching out the boxes and 2 since we didnt have a choice. Direc tv then sent us boxes to send our old receivers back and we did so...
Now here comes the good part... Last week I was in Kmart, doing some xmas shopping for my family and i find a great gift for my mom that has alzheimers. I go to the checkout and pay and the debit card comes back declined twice... That morning I had 350 in our checking account and the purchase was for about 30 dollars, so I call the bank and they tell me that there was a 330 dollar charge from direc tv... I tell the bank that this is wrong and they tell me that I should call direc tv and if they call the bank and explain that its wrong the charge will be xnld and the money back in 5 minutes..
I now call direc tv and spend the next 1.5 hours figuring out what happened. After all this time and speaking to 4 people, they tell me it was a mistake and i would get a credit and money back in 1 week. I said this is unacceptable and I needed the money now and they could call the bank. I am then told by an agent and a supervisor that they are in inbound call center and everyone there is unable to make an outbound call... I call the bank back and they tell me that direc tv can xnl it but they just dont want to help me out. I call direc tv back and they tell me again that they wont and I will get my money in a week... So I call the bank back and ask them why they gave my money out unauthorized and they said it was authorized... And the best part is that Direc tv never got my bank debit card number, as I always paid by electronic check, so somehow they stole my debit card info or copied the account info from the check... This and every article here is a Huge Warning to everyone not to use this company... Direc tv is one of the biggest scam companies in the history of the world and hopefully one day everyone will realize this...
