I recently purchased a Kodak digital camera from eCost.com. I had purchased this camera for my great-nephew and his wife in North Carolina so they could take pictures of their new baby and share the pictures with the rest of our family in California.
When the camera arrived and my great-nephew tried using it, the camera would not turn on. He followed the instructions on the eCost web site for how to troubleshoot the camera's problems but to no avail.
The following day I contacted eCost by phone and reported the problem. I was told that they did not process returns on those items and that I would have to contact the manufacturer. We contacted Kodak and eventually obtained approval to return the camera to them for repair.
In the mean time, I sent a note to eCost Customer Service asking for an explanation of their policy and why this policy was not made clear when I purchased the camera. That was six days ago and I have not yet heard from anybody.
ECost claims on their web site to be totally committed to Customer Satisfaction. Yet, when an unhappy customer contacts them they simply ignore the complaint. It is obvious that they are completely uninterested in keeping their customers happy.
As a longtime customer of eCost I am insulted and offended by their total lack of consideration. I will now cancel my subscription to their newsletter and never make another purchase from this retailer again. I have no use for a business that doesn't stand behind what they sell.
