I bought a HD television from Circuit City on March 2nd 2009. A JVC 42" ipod tv. This had a picture that I could not watch. It was horrible. Black hair was blue, any brown or blonde hair was bright red, there was a complete hue around the picture, it was fuzzy, definately not HD, completely pixilated. The tv turned itself on and off whenever it felt like it. The 42" screen shrunk to just 12". I was on to the JVC helpline the next day, they told me I had to get onto Direct TV to get a HD box. (My old Samsung was HD but I didnt need a box). Anyway I ordered one, had it delivered and PRESTO - not a scrap of difference. I phone JVC they told me it was not the tv but Direct TV. They told me this excuse and that excuse. I had Direct TV out three times. They told me it was the TV, it was a piece of crap and I needed to return it which I could not as by this time Circuit City was no more.
Quite franky I had enough I called JVC again. This time they told me the cause of the problem was my dvd player, most defintely. I blew up I did not have a dvd player connected, reluctanty she gave me the name of Industry Standard Technology who were the local warranty dealership. I called these people and eventually 'MAX' came out who asked me to put it on the brightest HD channel Discovery or one of those really bright ones. There we are he said, just needed a color adjustment. The problem is with Direct TV he said, not the TV. Needless to say he did absolutely nothing, so three days later out came Direct TV. This time they sent their top technician who was really nice & pointed out to me all the problems, basically the tv was total garbage,
He said 'you do not want this tv', get your money back. So back on the phone to 'Max' who disagreed. Anyway I then got out an independnt. He said this TV is a huge piece of rubbish and these Industry Standard warrenty people are just trying to con you. I was then again promised a call from Industry Standards. This was nearly 5 weeks later, no phone call was forthcoming, promises, promises, so I sent them a fax telling them to pick this up, Its junk and I want my money back. They can pick it up or I will go to the media. Funny that. They came and took it away on April 6th now six weeks short of three days later NOTHING. I am still waiting for my refund, no calls returned, not a word. I had told them in the fax I was going out to buy another (working perfectly a fantastic tv, brilliant a Samsung). Before they took the JVC away I had about an hour of different shows put on a camcorder so one could see the discusting picture & took multiple photos of the screen which clearly show the problems. This tv was picked up on Friday 10th April, now six weeks (-3days) later as I said not a word.
Does this deserve to be on the rippoff report. Yes it does. They clearly had the fact in writing before they picked up the tv that nothing less than a full refund would be satisfactory as they called when they got the threat of media attention to come get it. So nearly three months since I lost my mind and bought this piece of crap I am still out nearly $1000. I need my money back. I will persue all options available to me including the media to get my money back. I am not interested in any verbal communication with these people, only my money back.in fact one attorney I called said it could be criminal. Anyway I am hoping the media will do this incompetent rippoff merchants off. I guess what they dont know is that I am a member of the press as a reporter/photographer so FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELTS INDUSTRY STANDARD TECHNOLOGY.
