This letter I sent to them explains it all.
Dear All Certified Transmissions,
Please return the $1463.87 which I paid you for the repair of my transmission.
I am asking for this refund because of several reasons. On August 7, my car was delivered to you to repair the transmission on my 1996 ford Contour GL. It was agreed upon that after making payments to you that when the amount agreed upon for the repair were received, that I would be able to pick up my car with a reconditioned transmission.
Upon your receipt of the final payment I was told by you that my car would not be ready for another week. Although I thought this was unacceptable I agreed to pick up the car a week later.
After a week had passed I was told by you that my car was still undrivable and that you would have it ready in a few days and that you would call me. After waiting three days without a phone call from you I decided to call. During that phone call you assured me that my car would be ready soon and to you call back after another few days.
At this point you had already had my car for almost two months. During the waiting period after paying you in full for the repair of my transmission, I called several transmission repair centers and found out that this was not standard practice so I called you again and demanded my car back.
Two days later which was October 5th (two months after you received my vehicle) I was able to pick up my car. The second time that you received my car was on November 4th. 2002. My car was out of your shop for one month and was giving me the same problems it gave me before your repair was done. You accepted my car under warranty and proceeded to keep my car for a week for repairs.
I was yet again informed that this was not standard practice in the transmission repair service industry. The third and final time was January 17 to March 28. This is an unacceptable amount of time to keep a vehicle for transmission repair.
Once again after calling and calling to make a time to pick up my vehicle you informed me that my transmission was giving you a hard time and that new electronics would be needed. You also informed me that electronics was not included in the warranty. You also told me that you had ordered the new computer (that was the electronics that you informed me that my car needed) and that it would be in soon. You told me that soon was a Friday. That Friday when I called, you told me that you had ordered the wrong computer and that one of your employees was going to pick it up.
I asked you how something like that could happen and was told that you would fix it. I picked up my car the following Saturday which was March 28, after demanding my car to be fixed. Before I picked it up though, you told me that I would have to call you the following Monday or Tuesday. Once again this is not standard practice.
Also, when I came to pick up my car I noticed that the key was broken off in the ignition and that my radio was stolen and my air conditioner was not working. I called you on March 31 to discuss this with you and demand a refund and was told by you that you would not refund any monies. I think that it would behoove you to consider a refund with all the evidence that you were not forthright with me about my vehicle repairs and did not stay within the standards of other transmission repair centers.
The Amount of the refund does not include the amount paid out by All Certified Transmission for delivery of my vehicle to you.
You should send my refund in the amount of $1463.87 to the address provided above, within (5) business days from the delivery of this letter.
