Almost three years to the day my 58 inch Hewlett Packard TV broke. This is a 2,000 dollar TV.in my opinion it shoud last a little longer, but things break. I understand this. It makes a loud clicking noise and then shuts off. I called HP support, and was told the Light engine was bad. I did a little research online. This part is about $1,600.
I am very technical and know a lot about electronics, so I decided to dig a little further. After taking apart the TV, I found the color wheel was the problem, not the light engine. I became excited, this is like $100.00 tops. I called HP again. I am now being told that they do not sell internal parts to the public, but for $629.00 they will send someone out to reair the TV.
This is why I consider this a rip off. I don't want to pay someone to do somthing I can do. The service rep insisted this was the only option, for them to send there guy.internal parts must be replaced by HP certified technicans. Who cares if I break the TV. I own it. I did not agree with this answer and asked to speak with a manger (John, who refused to give me his last name) and was told again I had no other option, but to pay them for a service call.
I do not want anything for free by any means. All I want is a new color wheel
