Yep that's right, three grand to learn how to build a computer that was supposed to be ready from the get go ; so let's begin.
I have had all of the problems listed in other reports ie. Customer service, computer crashing, over the 30 day return policy etc. Exept i did get everything at once and they did break down the payments.
At first i thought it was something i was doing, however i'm lucky enough to have a couple of friends that really know their stuff, keep in mind i have already tried customer service; with no help from them i had to go it alone
My first problem was that the case had no fans except the cpu fan. This seemd to solve the heat issue that was causing the computer to crash.
My second problem: The mouse took a dump (no pun intended) no problem, afe dollars nd i'm up and running.
My third problem: The power switch fell apart, i mean to pieces. With no luck in finding a replacement switch i was forced to buy a new case.
My fourth problem: The cpu fan quit, simple buy another fan and heatsink and replace it. This where i found out that my p4 processor was a first run willamette type and was very difficult to find compatable heatsinks & motherboards. There are 2 types of p4 cpu's that i know about the 423 (mine) and the 478 which is currently being sold, the 423 was obsolete before it hit the shelf, That makes me feel confident about this computer.
My fifth problem: The printer died, i mean it just died. Off to buy a new printer What i found was that this printer the z33 lexmark is a throw away printer.By this i mean if you buy the printer youy get the ink cartidges a $40 mail in rebate. If you buy the inks seperately they cost just under $70. Total cost for the printer W / rebate $39.85.
My sixth problem: The scanner died. I never really used it so i didn't worry about it, however while this thing was smoking it managed to take out the mother board in the short time it took me to unplug the scanner. I, m not exactly sure if the scanner took out the board or if the board took out the scanner.
Either way i'm once again screwed by this damned computer.
Now with a new board installed (the cpu didn't cook luckily) i'm up and running.
My seventh problem: The hard drive went south, a quick call to western digital got me a brand new one (i was mart enough to back every thing up before it died.
The little problems: The easter island head looking speakers weren't what they advertised & sucked. The memory was junk. The software is useless (one of the selling points, remember it's supposed to be worth $1300. Not). The power supply is only 150 watts, barely enough to run what it. S already running. This system is a total joke. The burner works but will only work with their software, unlike my new burner that works w / whatever software you want.
In conclusion i must say ; if you want an out of the box system that is reliable, steer clear of the v2 premier because it is one hell of a headache. Now if you want to learn how to build, trobleshoot and be your own tech support then by all means go ahead and buy this product because you will get all of the necessary components to self teach yourself how to. I just hope have enough extra cash to buy all the replacement parts needed to get it up & running. On a scale of 1 to 10 i have to give this a - 10. So now that i have completely rebuilt this computer i have to say that the only thing left original is the lcd monitor, even the keyboard had to go.
