After relying on Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool for 20 years my wife and I figured we could not go wrong when our burned to the the ground in 2004. We purchased a Whirlpool front loading Duet Washer and Dryer, Amana/Maytag Refrigerator and Dishwasher.
The dishwasher washer was the first mistake. After 4 service calls it was replaced with the exact same model with the exact same problem. It will not divert water to the top sprayer therefore nothing on the top gets clean. This problem occurs after about two months of use then when the new washer is installed and two more service trips are made the dishwasher has an expired warranty. It is not only good for a dish rack.
The dryer is a commical happening of sorts but we decided to let it go. When it was delivered we observed a fly caught between the two pieces of door glass. We were told it was not covered under warranty and would cost $85 plus mileage and new seals to put the door back together.
The washer is pretty much the dynamite under the bridge. It has been through two bellows (the seals between door and the drum) which we have replaced ourselves at almost $90 a piece. Now we are told the parts to repair the drum will be over $400! It is roaring like a car with bad brakes and the $400 does not include labor. What happened to their superior design super long drum warranty the guy Lowes sold us on?
They were much better when they several small companies made in America.
