We bought a 50 plasma TV to Video Only in Hayward, CA last year July and after a year our TV not working, the screen is all black but we can still hear the sound. Also I bought extended warranty for 5 years (paid $354), so I called GE Cares on 8/19 to schedule a repair and they gave us to their subcontractor which is the Precision TV so they schedule to look at it on Friday, 8/22 but they called back on 8/21 and asking what's wrong with the TV and we told them that the screen is all black but we can still hear the sound. So they said they will schedule to get the parts and as soon as the parts arrive they will call us back to schedule the repair. I did not hear from them the next week, so I called on 8/27 to find out the status of the schedule, they check their computer and said they already got the estimate for the parts and they will send it to GE for approval, I asked them for how long they can get the approval they don't know and said sometimes they can get an approval 2 thru 4 days. I told them so how come it takes a month to schedule the repair (I was so upset with their service) they said because they need to get the approval first from the GE before they can order the parts. I called GE to find out how long it will takes for them to approve the parts, and first they said oh' is not in our computer, let me call Precision TV about the estimate, so I was holding for about 10 minutes, finally they said ok we just got it (8/27) so I said how long it will take for you to approved this parts, they said they just got it and it takes a week but usually they don't know for how long (so this time I'm really upset, I think my blood pressure was really high because I felt my face it's warm and I started having a headache). So I asked them again how come it takes a month just to schedule the repair, what kind a service is that, and they response, we just got the estimate and Monday, 9/1 is holiday so they said they don't know. They will give me a call a soon as they approved and schedule the repair. I asked them I need to talk to your Supervisor, so she put me on hold for like 20 minutes so the supervisor answered the phone (I think they just put me on hold and the same person pretend to be a supervisor because it sounds the same person), so same response and asked her I will call back again next week (which is this week) to find out the status and she said I don't need to call them back and they will call me to let me know the schedule. I told her it's my right to call you back to find out the status, and she said even I call them back if the status still the same I still need to wait. It's almost three weeks now still not receive a call from them. So after a couple of months (around 10/17/08) after I called the GE Corporate office and ABC 7 on your side finally somebody from Precision TV called and schedule an appointment to check the problem, I asked them are they going to repair it now and they said still missing one part, but they will try to fix it and it may work without that part. So the guy came and trying to fix it and he said they still need the PDP (panel) and they will order the part and our gave us a claim #. Precision TV said this is not their decision it's GE's decision because Precision TV is a subcontractor of GE, so all the decision is coming for GE. So on 10/21 I call GE to find out the status of my TV they said still looking for part, I asked them just replace my TV if they can't find the part. So she said she will file a request to replace it and said it takes 5 to 7 business days to get an answer. So on the 28th of October, GE called my home and I called back and again talked to different person. He said this time still no response and they already rush the request to replace it and takes another 2 business to get a response. I called back again, 11/2/08 and I do not want to talk to the customer person, so I asked for supervisor, and the response is "they still trying to get the part and I have 90 days since I file a report (8/20/08)" and replace is not the last option. She said I can get an answer by Friday, 11/7/08 to find out if they cannot get a part they will replace the TV (still a doubt on this one) I told her I'm writing down all my calls and conversation with your company. So just to confirm with her I told her they going to call me on Friday and give me an answer if they get the part or just replace the TV and she said "yes" and if I do not receive a call back from them I will call them back. So far this is my last conversation with GE and it's been nine (9) weeks now and still not resolving this problem. Let me know how I can resolve this and let GE knows this is a big rip-off. Please somebody help me!
