My family and I are on a family plan and share minutes. We added a line that is not used where I live. Before adding it, we made sure that it would be in the coverage area so that our so called "National Freedom" plan could be utilized without incurring roaming charges.
On our first bill, there was $250 worth of roaming charges from the recently added line. Customer service took off the charges and then told us from then on we would be responsible for looking for a tiny yellow triangle prior to answering or making calls to see if we would be roaming. If it appeared, we would be charged for the call... Even though we were on a no roaming plan.
The man who uses this phone is old and can't see the tiny triangle... I can't hardly see it!
We were also told that there is a tower right by this location, but it is just not in service yet. Until this tower is turned on, we will always be roaming but in the "good coverage zone."
The second month we had the roaming charges again, same with the third month, and finaly we asked to have them let us out of the contract since they could not provide the service that we had signed up for that they promised would be available. We were told that there is no way that can happen. Even though we were honest and upfront about where the phone would be and were told that it was in a good coverage zone (where you don't get roaming charges) we still could not get out of it.
So now, we have a phone that we pay for each month, but it never gets turned on or used. We can pay $200 to leave the contract on the one phone or continue to pay the monthly service fee until the contract expires in two years! The way we have been treated, we want to end our service on all 5 lines but would have to pay the $200 for each phone! There sure isn't anything like being lied to, treated like crap, charges outrageous amounts of money, and then still getting stuck with a horrible product!
