In the letters to the Editor section of the Livonia Observer (Page A6 - 8/14/08) is a very interesting letter regarding an awful experience a person had buying their AccessHD-DTA-1010D HDTV converter boxes by GXI for $59 each. Kept overheating and shutting off. When they did work, there was a big blue banner that kept appearing in the middle of the screen saying "signal is weak." Called GXI & they said that problems are normal and would not exchange them. As for the blue banner, they said there is no way to stop it from popping up except to buy an outdoor antenna which they offered to sell her.
She called ABC and they would not exchange them or give a refund. Referred back to manufacturer. So out $120.
If you do buy from a company that will give a refund, there is no refund for the coupons! So make sure you buy a name brand and from a company that will exchange them for another brand if does not work!
Went across to street to Wal-Mart and bought their Magnavox TB100MW9 for $49 each as had no coupons now and they worked perfectly. Others friends have bought RCA and Phillips 45db and 50db respectively and no problems with them.
