I own an 18,000 BTU window unit. I bought it in June. It came with a "Full (Five Year) Parts & Labor Warranty."
The unit quit working on Friday evening, July 25. Just over 3 years of my purchase date.
I contacted a representative on Monday, July 28, to make a claim on my warranty. I was informed that my warranty was invalid, even though 2 years still remain from my purchase date. I was told all service & labor would be at my expense. Due to the company filing a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, nobody is responsible for my warranty.
I called a repair technician to my house. He arrived on Tuesday, July 29, only to inform me that the motor had locked up & it would cost more to fix it than to purchase a new one.
I purchased this air conditioner under the belief that I had five years to encounter any problems & it would be taken care of for me.
Fedders claims "quality products & superior service". I don't see any of that happening in my case. I can't even get a hold of anyone on the phone or the internet.
