Complaint / Review
Continental Promotions Group (aka Antec. rebatestatus.com)
Rebate Scam Fraud dishonest delay tactic

I submitted a $40 rebate on May 13th. The rebate was sent via registered mail and was received on May 19th by Dept. 107469, "Nine Hundred $40 MIR", PO. Box 52900 Phoenix, AZ 85072; along with all required rebate information.

Over the last 30 days, I have patiently waited for http://antec. Rebatestatus.com to reflect the fact that my rebate was received. I have sent emails on two separate occasions, attempting to determine why there was no record of having received my rebate submission. Each email contained photocopy attachments of ALL information submitted... including the original rebate form, the newegg.com receipt, and a copy of the UPC code. Each time, the rebate department (Continental Promotions Group), sent me a form e-mail stating that my rebate was not found; that I should wait for at least 30 days.

Well, as expected... After 30 days, there still was no record of having received my rebate! In fact, it is likely, there never would have been a record, because in all likelihood, my rebate materials were never processed! I am not only going to report ANTEC and Continental Promotions Group to the FTC, and the BBB, but I am going to let as many other people as possible, hear this story.

CUSTOMERS LIKE MYSELF WILL NOT STAND FOR THESE DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES ANY LONGER! I know the game they are playing; I know the purpose of rebate programs; and I know about the tactics that rebate companies employ to mitigate the amount of money returned to the consumer.

Had I not made copies of EVERYTHING, including all correspondence from Newegg, ANTEC, and emails received from Continental Promotions Group, I would have been in the same shape as every other consumer who is cheated out of their rebate.instead, I have all of the information necessary to show, without a doubt, that my rebate was simply thrown out once received.

After a month of waiting, I directly contacted the rebate company, who confirmed that they had "lost" my rebate, and had no record of having received my information, nor processed the claim. This despite having proof that the rebate was received via registered mail on May, 19th.

I WILL get my rebate, of that I am absolutely sure! But it shouldn't take a phone call directly to the rebate company to get my rebate submitted. It took all of about 30 seconds for a Continental Promotions Group representative to enter my information into the system and generate a rebate submission ID#. They were NOT able to give my any reason why this wasn't done a month ago.

I shouldn't have to play these games in order to have my rebate processed in a professional and timely manner!

In the meantime, I have suggested to ANTEC and Newegg.com they terminate their business relationship with the Continental Promotions Group at the conclusion of this program. I also suggested they not use them ever again to process rebates. Their fraudulent business tactics will no doubt land ANTEC in hot water with the FTC if it continues.

As long as my rebate is being processed, I can accept the fact that under the terms of the rebate program, I must wait 8-12 weeks to receive my rebate... What I can't accept, is Continental Promotions Group purposely disposing of valid rebate submissions!

If I have to, I will initiate a class action lawsuit to stop this kind of fraud in the future!
