Cancelled my order because "I'm a bad customer" who wouldn't purchase additional accessories

This place needs to be shut down. I made an online purchase with them just yesterday for a digital camera. I received a call at home about my purchase the same night, but I wasn't home; so they left a message with a call back number. I though something was wrong with the order, so I was going to call them back today. Well, they beat me to the punch and called me again today. I was releived to find out that nothing was wrong with the order, but what happened next became a bigger problem. The guy on the phone was actually calling to offer me an opportunity to buy accessories for my camera. Now, yesterday right after I bought the camera I ordered some accesories online from other sites because they had better deals than techon digital. So, I didn't really need anything for the camera. But I decided to hear the guy out because he said he had some really good promotions. However, when he was done going through the offers, I told him that I'm not really interrested. At this point the sale's pitch became more pushy. He tried to come down on the price, and even offered me free stuff with the order. But I stood my ground and rejected it. He still tried to push the sale, but again I stood my ground. This is where things start getting bad... He tells me that he has to cancel the entire order now, because he already put the promotions on. I said, "even the camera?". He said yes. I said, "look I just want the camera nothing else". He said he can't do that. He has to cancel everything. I asked to speak to his supervisor. He said his supervisor is going to tell me the same thing. But I still insisted on talking to the supervisor. When I continued to insist on speaking to the supervisor about his kamakazi sales tactics, he changed his tune. He suddenly was able to take the promotions off only and send me out my camera. At this point his tone became rude and abruptly short. And after arraging my order with the camera alone hung up quickly.

At this point, I was really upset. I have never had anyone push a purchase on me like that before. He was overly aggressive and when I didn't bite, he became threateningly agressive. I decided to call the company back to complain about the employee.

When I called back, I stated my reason for calling and immediately got a rude response. The person on the phone first claimed to be the supervisor and told me that I am a "bad customer" and that he is "cancelling the order" because I don't like their service. He said I can buy the camera from another store whose bussiness I appreciate. I was shocked. I couldn't believe it. I said, "did you just call me a bad customer?" He said yes that only a bad customer would complain about a good employee whoo earns their company over $160,000 a year. I told him that is not the point. If an employee does something wrong, it should be corrected. I said I don't want my order cancelled, and that I can't believe how he is speaking to me either. I then asked for the person he has to report to, his supervisor or manager. He then said he is the manager. So, I asked to speak to the owner. He then said he is the owner and manager. I asked his name and he said Scott Saff and spelled it for me, still claiming to be the owner. He said he cancelled my order and that he is not going to argue with me back and forth. He told me not to try to repurchase it because it wouldnt be honored and hung up.

Again in shock and disbelief, I called back to see if this guy was for real. Sure enough he was, the order was cancelled and now "the camera is out of stock". Funny, in a matter of 10 minutes on the phone making a complaint, the camera became coincidently unavailable, and according to the new tech I was speaking to, it won't be available for 6 to 8 weeks now.

Tired and frustrated, I used all my agrivation and energy after that on finding out information. I filed a report with the Federal Trade Commission at (877) 382-4357. Everyone who encounters a problem with this store should do the same if they haven't already. Every report counts. With enough reports the FTA will start an investigation. I also plan to file a report with the local Better Bussiness Bureau.

I still don't have a street address because they do not list any location on their site, but a Techondigital employee gave me a fax number to file a complaint with the company. It turns out that the fax number when googled comes up as a Brooklyn, NY number.

This company needs to be looked at carefully under a microscope for their shady bussiness practices. If you are a consumer witha complaint about this store and you read this, don't let it end here. Call the FTA whose number I listed and file a report. Also, contact the BBB and file a complaint. We as consumers have to band together and demand fair and ethical bussiness practices from online companies like this who think the internet is a haven where they don't have to follow the rules of good bussiness.
