Does not honor emails for out-of-stock items Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania

Back in Oct. I was looking for a Nintendo Wii for Christmas for my nephew.

I checked the Circuit City website which stated that this item could only be purchased from the store (which was no problem). They offered a service to register your email and they would notify you when the item was in stock at your local store to be purchased.

I did receive an email from them stating the item was in stock and available for purchase.

That same day, I called the store to double check and make sure they did have it before I drove up there.
I was told that yes, they did have a few in stock HOWEVER since the Wii's were going to be in their ad on Sunday I had to wait until then. (It was Tuesday at the time).

I then asked to speak to the manager who was very young and not very customer oriented by the tone of her voice and her statement to me which is as follows:

"This item is in our ad on Sunday and you can come and stand in line just like everyone else"

I told her about the email I received from them and no where did it state that I could not have the item if it was in their ad-in fact it advised me to go to the store ASAP if it was a popular item. She didn't care one bit about the email and told me to come to the store on Sunday.

I guess my whole issue is: Why have people waste their time to sign up on the website if they won't sell you the item when they have it?

I filed a complaint with the BBB in Virginia where the Circuit City offices are located and sent them the exact email I received from Circuit City. Circuit City did not even respond to the first complaint and a second was sent. Basically they told me the same BS story that their manager told me.

Even though I responded unfavorably back to the BBB, they closed the complaint and considered it over and done.

Just the fact that it took Circuit City over 2 months to respond to the complaint isn't saying too much for them wanting to resolve issues and take care of customers.
Needless to say, no one in my family will ever shop in their store again!
