I found the Canon sd870 IS at 86th Photo and Video online for a great price. I called the company and they said the item was in stock, so I ordered it online. The next day I got the following email saying I needed to call them to confirm my order:
In order to further verify your order, we will need to speak with you on the phone. Please call our Verification department at 1-800-815-204 Ext. 213 Jason so we may verify and complete processing your order.
When I called, they tried to sell me a spare battery, a flash memory and extra warrantee. I declined all of the above even though the salesperson was quite persistent. I asked again to make sure it was in stock, and he said it was. Minutes later, I got the following email:
We regret to infrom you that, unfortunately the item you ordered is on a current 2-3 week backorder, we have not billed your credit card and we will notify you when tracking number is available.
Days later, they have altered the price slightly, but the website still shows the item as available. I searched their website, I see now that many people are having the same issue. I do not think this is a coincident. This company is scamming and wasting peoples time. I wonder If I would have got the camera if I ordered the other (over priced) stuff they offered.
