Sprint provide adequate cellular service as displayed on their service map. And still won't release you from the contract! Ripoff

I was a loyal Sprint PCS customer for seven years. The service was fine when I lived in central Illinois and Chicago. When I moved to Northwest Indiana, I figured I could continue with Sprint. But I found that I just couldn't get adequate cellular service. I just couldn't get enough "bars" to complete a phone call with it cutting out. I often missed phone calls coming in.

My work depends on me having access to returning emergency pages. I asked around the area, and everyone I asked, even cellular phone dealers, stated the Sprint was unreliable in the area. I was given recommendations for either Cingular or Verizon.

I called Sprint to get out of my contract, and they refused, stating that according to the map of the service area, I should have cellular service. I tried completing my complaint on my Sprint PCS phone, as I was standing outside my house in the middle of the street, and of course, I experienced a drop call! They said I could purchase the "roaming" feature, but of course, I had to extend my contract for another year.

I would have paid the money to get out of the contract, but I had been roped into getting 2 free phones added to my account, where NONE of the representatives had explained that this would extend my service agreement for an additional year from the time each free phone was added. So in order to cancel, I would have to pay for 3 phones to be cancelled, which would have been $450.00. The customer service representative told me he would send out a technician to the area to check the cellular service.

I asked him to send him to my home so I could show him how I didn't get cellular service to my high-end Samsung phone. He said he was scheduled to come out in three days. No one showed up. He was just sick of talking to me and wanted to get me off the phone.

Hindsight, I should have reported them to the Better Business Bureau.
