False Porn Charges Ripoff

After 5 years of service, we received two bills with charges for adult movies totalling approximately $150. These charges were placed practically continuously back to back over a period of a couple of days. The movies were ordered many times over time periods where no one was even home! Even though Comcast admitted that we had never rented an adult movie before (but even if we had, so what!!!) and had never had a late bill or sent a partial payment (in other words, been PERFECT customers), they stated there was nothing they could do because after multiple "investigations", it was determined that the charges could only have come from our boxes. They stated our service would be disconnected if the charges were not paid. They were gracious enough to "forgive" $50 of the charges!

We decided that it was just not acceptable to pay for charges we didn't make OR to be treated this way, so we set a disconnect date. My husband, however, caved in at the last possible minute because Comcast owns the rights to most of the sports games in our area. This fact, in itself, is another point of contention with me! Since they have a monopoly over these sports games, I guess they will continue to do whatever they want to do!

We subscribe to pretty much all of the services they offer. I pay almost $200 a month for premium cable and internet services and, like I stated above, have never submitted a late bill or missed a payment. I cannot believe that after 5 years of this, Comcast is willing to let $2400 a year go over $150 worth of charges! I believe that they are relying upon people like my husband who really value their sports games to just cut their losses. Also, they cannot promise that it will not happen again because they pretty much said that we ran up the charges! All this after putting up with mediocre service such as distorted picture and some channels not showing up at times (Comcast always states that they have fixed the problem but it's always temporary!)!!!

I know of another family member who dropped their service for this same reason. I have heard several coworkers' reports of the same thing happening to people they know, and I have read it upon this website. How is this allowed to continue?!?! What recourse do we have?
