So Here is the story
I was a verizon customer for a year.
After moving and not being able to afford my account, I switched the financial responsibility to one of my friends who needed a phone. The account was clear, and off my name. Verizon even sent me a check back for 6 bucks.
Again they gave me money
So about 8 weeks rolls by and I recieve a letter from a lawyer
Stating verizon has requested him to collect money and whatnot from me in the amount of 220 dollars.
I write the man a very nice letter stating what happened, and how I dont owe them jack, i even sent a photocopy of the check they sent me.
I also made sure to call my friend to see if he was paying his bill, just incase my name was never removed.
After mailing the letter, i never heard back from this lawyer.
Fast forward 2 years later, last week im sitting in a car delearship, awaiting to hear my credit approval. The guy sits down and tells me my credit score is low due to a collection out from verizon for 300 dollars, but it had been classified as a write-off and now im stuck with it.
What the crap happened? I called verizon, and of course they had no idea what the hell happened. So basically verizon effed up my credit score after they paid me 5 dollars... What a great scam to stop you from getting your name off their plans.
