I signed up to have Dish Network service at a house that I had listed for sale on the MLS/real estate market. I specifically asked the local representative (World Vision Satellite) what would happen if my house sold and I moved. I was assured that moving would allow me out of my contract with no charge. If I had been told anything to the contrary, I certainly wouldn't have signed up. I moved shortly thereafter and notified World Vision Satellite / Dish Network. Within weeks I started receiving collection letters stating that I had broken a contract and owed Dish via a collection agency approximately $1,000.00. I was dumbfounded. I contacted the local representative of World Vision Satellite, Robert Scott who tried to be helpful and advocate my cause. He said he'd get things straightened out and set up a conference call with a Dish Representative. On this call, I was told by a female Dish representative that if I re-started my service at my new home that I had moved to, they would take care of the fees they had been trying to collect and make sure that there was no negative impact on my credit reports/scores/ratings. I was conned once again as I believed her and agreed to re-start Dish Service. After years of phone calls, protests, etc..., I still have a derogatory item on my credit report from them. This injury to my credit report has no doubt cost me tens of thousands of dollars in excess interest payments as I am in the business of real estate investing and have financed millions of dollars in properties since then. Please don't buy their lines... They are despicable!!!
