Complaint / Review
Genesis Media Labs
Ripoff Dishonest fraudulent marketing

Similiar to the two other complaints in file.

I am a real estate agent in Toronto, Canada.

Last week, I was showing some properties to my client.

I was driving along Hwy 7, with my client in the car. I stopped at the red light, and the two guys pulled up along the side and flagged me for something.

I opened my window, the guy on the passenger side said: "We've got this high-end home theater system that I am trying to get rid of..'

My client in the car asked me what they have; and I told her. She asked if it is an video system; and the guy asked me to pull over to the side into a parking lot.

And he shown me his invoice that accounted for the two systems; that he worked for a custom home theater company and that there was an error which resulted in him getting an extra system and so on.

He then showed me the system, 'genesis media labs 5.1 digital.' I thought it could have been some ultra high-end brand that I've never heard of (I'm not too big of an audiophile). He also showed me a hi-fi magazine that had the product listed at a $4,199 MSRP.

He told me that she can have it for $1500; I told them that the lady is only looking for an video system, and had no interest in a audio system.

After further negotiation, those guys finally said they just want to unload it, and she offered them $450. They drove the system to my house so that I can open up the box; and I have also go on the internet to the www.genesismedialabs.com website for verification.

On their website, they have a link to Fair Business Association of America (FBAA), and the FBAA logo. This of course, took me of guard; making me unaware to believe that this is a good company and a real product.

At this point I decided that this guy might really need the help and this might be a good deal anyway. So like an idiot, I gave $900 to him for two systems; one or myself and one for my client.

These guys help me to put the box back into my car, so that I can drop the system to her place.

The box is bar coded labelling the MSP at $4799. At that point, I think that even I can get the system cheaper at some discount electronic retail stores, I can properly have to pay around $2000 for the system. I began to think that I might have had the best deal in town.

I was exicited and told my friends about the deal. I was told by one of my friend that this is a con play.

I then do some investigation, and finally found the two reports in the FBAA site filed against Genesis Media Labs.

I totally agree with the two other victims. These jerks need to be stopped and put away for a very long time. The worst part about this horrible experience for me is not the loss of the money; it is not just in the state and have expanded into Canada.

This is why I am taking my time to file this report, thinking I may help others from just being fooled by these con artists.

I also hope that the domain of their website should be bring down.
