I've been a loyal Verizon Wireless customer for more than 5 years. Their plans are expensive and they don't have the best handsets, but at least I thought I could always count on their customer service if something went wrong.in fact in the past I had been.
Four years ago I had a problem with a phone I'd bought a couple months back and they just handed me a new one at a local store. So my expectation was to be treated similarly four years later when the Treo 700p I'd paid $450 for suddenly stopped working 3 months after receiving it.
But to my great shock Verizon Wireless said they would only be willing to replace the phone under warranty with a "previously enjoyed" phone. I was very disappointed with the outcome as I feel like I was a victim of bait and switch even though they did point out to me in the fine print of the warranty the language about receiving a refurbished phone in the event of a warranty replacement.
After 5 years of paying my high voice and data plans on time every time I will be looking to change carriers. I know the other carriers are probably the same but since I know now Verizon Wireless isn't any better I might as well get a nicer phone like perhaps the AT&T/Cingular iPhone. It's always said when good companies go bad.
