Dealtree, Kodak Trade-In. Got the trade but got no cash or the old camera

I recently recieved a flyer in the mail from Kodak. This flyer said that I could trade in my old camera for an upgrade to a newer camera. I thought to myself, this is great. So I went to Kodak's trade-in site and enter all the necessary information about my camera.

Before I packaged the camera, I finished shooting some pictures for that day because it was right before Christmas and I was hoping to have the new camera so I would not be without one. So I downloaded all photos from my LS443 camera onto my computer and I packaged everything all snug in a small box with packaging peanuts, etc. 4 other individuals was at my home during the time I was doing all of this. I sent the camera off the next day.

A few days ago I decided to log into the Kodak site to check the status of my awaited money, for which I had been given an estimate of about $65.00 for my camera. However, to my surprise, Dealtree said that my camera was broken and powered up, with what was a common error for the LS443, E45 lens malfunction error message. Now isn't this convient!? A common error message.

Did I say surprise? Not really, that is why I had 4 other witnesses, not including my wife and kids, look at the camera before I packaged it and examine the packaging. This camera was fully functional without a scratch on it. As a matter of fact you would not have even known that it had ever been used.

Dealtree has so kindly offered to send my camera back for a fee, if I choose. I could decide to pay the fee but it is a matter of principle. A half dozen people saw the camera, knew that it was working fine, and that it had been packaged fine.

I feel and will always feel that Dealtree either reports such errors, silently breaks, or reports breakage in the hopes that the comsumer will merely get disgusted and let them keep their device (s). Thus, they can profit from this without you, the consumer, ever being anymore the wiser.
