I was ripped off after sending in my three digital cameras for a Best Buy Trade-In. I had correctly packaged, shipped, filled out the trade-in forms and double-checked my work. I was quoted a value of $38 for a Nikon 8 Megapixel camera as its side panel had came apart but was still attached.
My other two cameras, one a Nikon 5 Megapixel for $22 and another, a Kodak 4 Megapixel for $15 were in great condition, working fine. I sent them in and completed the trade-in process. The cameras arrived with a third party, Dealtree Inc. I received a confirmation that they have gotten the cameras and it will be verified soon. I awaited a response with their verified value. They responded with their tested values. My Nikon 8 Megapixel was verified to have a value of nada ($0) because the side panel had broke off exposing the inside. They say that the unit does not power on (I tested the camera for power and batteries as it worked fine. Unless the camera got damaged during its shipment, that would be on UPS or Best Buy, not my fault, why are they blaming me)? And same with all of my cameras, I had not included a memory card. Big deal! The memory card was not included when I first bought the cameras, why should I have to pay extra to give them one?
Next... My Kodak 4 megapixel. I was quoted a value of $15 and after being verified it came to $0! I am amazed at this... They wrote in the verification notes that the unit was tested with multiple sets of batteries and does not power on. Again, I tested the cameras before it was sent and it was 100% working, I will agree that the camera does use a lot of battery, but it was working. I did not include the memory card either and an AC Adapter was not included. It does not use an AC adapter you can only use AA Standard Alkaline Batteries with it, so that is incorrect.
I talked to them about the situation and they said that they could ship it back at my expense. I am very disappointed with Best Buy and Dealtree Inc.
