Video Only
Dishonest, horrible customer service Ripoff

I just found the usacomplaints.com. When I had problems with video only, I didn't know about this site and was so unhappy with dealing with Video Only that I put up a whole web site, youllbesorry.net. I quit paying to host the web site but you can find an archive of it here.

The bottom line is that Video Only treated me like a human being until they had my money ($4000) and then they treated me like a sucker not worthy of return phone calls. They are greedy and deceitful and the money you might save should not be motivation to deal with them when juxtaposed against their obvious distain for the customer.

"My Story

I first went to Video Only in March. I spent $4200 and change on a Sony Grand Wega 50" LCD projection television. It's a great TV, I love it. I also bought a SATHD200 high definition set top box (STB). They actually gave me a deal on the STB because they couldn't really budge on the TV price. The price of the discount they gave me on the STB was waiting for 3 weeks (when I was told it would be one week) to get the STB. I was marginally dissatisfied but nothing worth causing a fuss (at the time).

We went back to Video Only in May to buy an AV reciever, subwoofer and rear channel speakers. $999 or so was the damage on this visit. This is where things go ugly.in a nutshell (I've already wasted too much time with these jokers to recount it beyond what is in the letter I sent them), I got two busted receivers, made numerous trips to Video Only, had countless messages go unreturned until finally receiving a previously opened unit that I was told was "brand new, never opened" two months after purchasing it.
Ground rules when considering buying at Video Only

1. Don't
I'm sure the constant drone of their radio commercials has led you to think shopping at Video Only is a good idea. It's not. I've found a number of independent AV stores in the Northwest who are quite willing to match prices with Video Only as well as internet retailers. Price point is Video Only's only real draw and after doing research I'm sure you'll find that you can get a price match on similar or better equipment without subjecting yourself to their dingy storefront (Beaverton) and swarmy sales staff. I'd list these other retailers but I don't want to have my point diluted by providing questionable motives. The only reason I put this page up is to save other consumers from my experience.

2. Make sure they have the item in stock
On both of the two occasions when I bought from Video Only, they sold me items that they didn't even have in stock. If they can't provide you with brand new in box merchandise prior to taking your money, do not pass go, leave immediately and go somewhere that won't hold your money until the item comes in. You've got better things to do with your money than give Video Only an interest free loan.By the time I finally took delivery on my AV receiver from them (2 months after purchasing), the discounted price they gave me was more than what the unit was retailing for (not to mention that it had been discontinued).

3. Don't
Seriously. I've never wasted so much time or patience dealing with a retailer. My phone messages weren't returned, I was lied to, the sales manager prioritized customers whose money he hadn't taken over me who had already given them $5000 in a six month period.
