Poor service leading to cancellation by customer ripoff Memphis TN

We recently installed Direct TV and have not been happy with it at all. From day one, we had problems. We had two receivers installed. One seemed to work, but the other did not. After spending several hours on the phone, it was determined that this receiver was defective.

So I had to wait several days for it to be replaced. I wanted both cable and Direct TV since I was paying at least till the end of the month anyway, but the technician removed the cable connection, and consequently, I had no service at all on one of the TVs.

The cable installer had to come back and charged me for the visit. When I got the new Direct TV receiver, I tried unsuccessfully to get it to tape programs. When I spoke to Direct TV, they directed me to the VCR book, which was of no help.

Since the cable installer removed the direct TV connection, I had to make another appointment to have the Direct TV reinstalled. For more than one week, I had no direct TV service at all. The technician was supposed to come to reinstall and give us detailed information on being able to tape from direct TV. The technician was supposed to come on Saturday between 8-12. When he didn't arrive by 12:00, I called direct TV and they said the call was scheduled and that he should still be coming. When he had still not arrived or called by 12:30 PM, I called Direct TV again and told them I wished to cancel the service because I felt that if this was the level of service I was receiving, it was only going to get worse. The service man finally arrived at 12:50 PM and we told him to leave.

Prior to this, when we received the new receiver I had to call to ask how to return the old defective receiver. I was told that they wold send a Fed Ex box, which I have still not received.

The bottom line is that they will be charging us upwards of $300 in cancellation fees. I agreed to them initally, never realizing I would have so much trouble with the service. Do I have any recourse? How can I contact the company directly? Your help would be really appreciated.
