In nov. for a christmass present i bought an at&t wireless prepay phone for my wife at best buy. I was going to get a track phone but the at&t wireless rep told me it was a better deal to get the at&t phone, w / the rebate it was the same price. There was a rebate form for $50. All i had to do is send it in w / a copy of recept, the a copy of the upc barcode, & the esn# for the phone. Well i did. On jan, 23 2002 i got a reply back that said they needed a copy of the upc barcode.
I called them @1-888-826-4929 & told them that it was sent to them w / the rest of the info. They said they did not have it, i tohd them i would send it again & on the 24th of jan i did. Well today may 6 i got the envelope i sent them in big red letters it read offer expired. So i called them to ask what had happend they said that they were sorry, i had everything in on time but the computer had closed the order out, & that i needed to call at&t wireless @ 1-800-888-7600, so i did i was transferd about 4 times then got someone who tried to help.
He called the rebate center, he was transferred 4 times the funny thing was he got transferred to his own office. Well he asked his supervisor what he can do & the supervisor said to have me call the rebate center. I told him it wouldn't work but i would try anyway. I did & got thansfered to AT&T Wireless again. AT&T then called nokia & they said it's not their problem. The guy from at&t told me he will call me back when he hears something.
About 1/2 hr later he called & said he can't do anything. So i called thr rebate center again this time the guy there xferd me to at&t wl. & he was on w / me when we talked to them after about 25 min he had to hang up & left me on the line w / at&t they called nokia again & now after 3 hrs on the phone at&t now says that it was my fault not them. They said i did not send it in on time when 2hrs before they said it was their fault, i told them that i sent the info in twice & they admmited that & that it was their mistake, then they got rude on the phone because they realized that they were wrong.
Then i asked to talk to a superviser her name was helene, she flat out told me that the desision was made up before that they thought it was my fault & nothing would be done about it. So all i got was pissed off on the phone for 3 hrs & 20 min but at least they have to pay for the call because it was a toll free call, i told them that the money they spend keeping me on line they couldv'e got off cheaper by just giving me the rebate i was intitled to.
I am not that mad about the $50. Its the point, how many other people did they scam like this. Don't let them get away with it, dont buy their products, they dont value their custmers enough to make things right. Bigggg rip off.
