I'm writing this report for the reason of the employees that have to work with these types of customers. Before you make an another complaint to get your revenge because somehow the employees of circuit city ripped you off, make sure you don't fit in one of these categories
1. the cheap skate
This person comes into the store and asks for the latest sale that has a mail in rebate on a laptop that knocks it down to 500 some dollars. When I come in and check my record and find that i am -500 dollars in the hole I know exactly what happened. Pretty much it goes person comes in, does no research whatsoever and just wants a cheap laptop. I try to sell said person the antivirus and spy ware protection. Said person refuses that and city advantage accidental protection plan. Walks out of the store with laptopcomes back within the 14 day return policy and complains that their computer is defective because it runs so slow so they can circumvent the 15 percent restocking fee. Unfortunately for CC, this usually works and we lose money.
Buddy, you bought a freaking 1.4 GHz Celeron with 256 Megs of memory, how freaking fast do you want it to run!!! It's not a damn dual core centrino with a gig of ram! You can't play half life 2 because it doesn't even have a 3d card in it! And with the method viruses are transmitted today, you most likely got a virus!!!
I don't get commission. If I tell you a computer is crap, I mean the computer is crap. If I am selling you antivirus and spy sweeper, it's because I don't want to see you back in with a virus problem a month later. If i am selling you accidental warranty on your laptop it's because I don't want to charge you 500 dollars STARTING PRICE for repairs on a cracked LCD which circuit city doesn't do, that is my own side business. My prices are pale compared to other people in my area.
Now if you don't have the money, sure fine just say that a higher computer is out of your budget and at least adjust your budget for antivirus and spy ware software, but if you do, and you just being blasted cheap, don't expect any sympathy from me when you got dancing naked girls on your desktop
2. the know it all
maybe you took some 25 dollar class for one day teaching you the basics, maybe you have a wannabe computer tech in your pocket, maybe you plugged a computer in think you have mastered the realm of computers, but if you don't even know what the letters FSB mean in computer terms, you have no right to challenge my knowledge about computers. I am currently in college for computer networking technology, dropping techie word bombs on me does not make you look smart.
If you even have this supreme knowledge of computers, the hell are you in circuit city for! You don't even have to leave your house to search the prices and stock of the biggest retailer in the world, the internet, but yet you come into my store to brag about what you think you know and being ready to put me down in case I contradict you.
3. The thief!
Defines itself, takes a item off the sales floor then goes to customer service complaining about some made up injustice I did to them to get a cash refund
4. Mr. Money bags
This fool thinks that just because he spent 30k in circuit city last year that he demands respect like King Henry the 900th. FYI bud, on computers, the markup is so pathetic it's not even funny. We have a record of what you bought. So just because you bought a bunch of crap doesn't mean you deserve some kind of special treatment.in turn we should be kicking your arrogant butt out the door for actually hurting circuit city and making you a high loss customer
5. the fanboy/fangirl
one that defines itself again, if you at CC telling me how best buy has a instant rebate and we only have a mail in rebate. Why are you not over there buying it?
6. the haggler
Alright let me put this across to you right now. WE DO NOT MAKE COMMISION! The regular employees do not have control of the price, the only people that do have that authority is the managers! If you come in CC with the intent to haggle, don't even consult a salesperson and eat up their valuable time which could be used on a customer that needs help the salesperson can provide. And 99 percent of the time the managers are going to say no to making that 500 dollar laptop any cheaper, this guy is obviously related to mister cheap skate, just worse
7. the whiner
Gets a computer, no services, no warranty, and then returns to complain that they have a virus. All I got to say is I warned you bud, but once again people refuse to listen to me since i am just some jerk salesperson trying to get your money
8. The racist declarer
Maybe your black, maybe your white, maybe your Hispanic, maybe you're green and your nose is polka dot, but you find everyone racist and will use that to try to get yourself cash refunds and/or discounts. Some will even go as far as to take peoples job. Trust me buddy i am not being racist towards you unless I call you a racial slur.
If i am acting nasty or something, please excuse my behavior but your 7 earlier friends just turned my whole day into a living nightmare
I enjoy most of my customers, hell I have customers that are so loyal they will only ask for me even though they know I do not get commission. I had a couple actually go back to a CC near us to make sure I got the credit for the sale and would not leave the CSA alone till she fixed it. Therefore I know I'm not purposely trying to rip you off or make your shopping experience bad
I will update this more as I remember some more incidents that happen, but these 8 types of customers are half the reason why honest customers may have problems and not able to be helped because these people are eating our time.
