Last year I upgraded my nextel to the i860 model this was the first nextel phone equipt with a camera. (But let me just add i've had problems with nextels service, and dropping calls since day one) Not more then 5 months later the camera stopped working. I called nextel and they said i would have take it to the repair center to get it fixed. I said o. K i'll take it when i get time, as long as i can make and receive calls it can wait. But not longer than a month later while clubbing with friends the phone completely stopped working, it had a fuzzy screen. Thinking maybe my battery was gone i put my friends battery in my phone and still the same thing.
Coincidently, that same night i lost the phone. I filed an insurance calim, paid the deductible and had a new i860 3 days later. The phone came in Nov 8th 2005 and in Jan. 2006 my internet, walkie talkie, and text messaginsg stopped working. Also people were calling my phone and when I was answering it would be silent. I would have to hang up and call them back or when I would call out the same thing would happen. I called nextel and they said that their towers had lost my phone's signal (what ever that means) and that I would have to go to the repair center and possibley get a replacement phone until that phone was fixed.
A few days later I ended up going to the repair people but not for that problem but because THE PHONE STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY AGAIN! The repair guys said my SIM card had stopped working and i would have to purchase another one, I refused to pay because i know this is not my problem and the model phone was obviously defective before it left the shelve. And after 2 hours of being connected with representive after representive they refused to replace it. Still standing in the repair shop i was faced with paying to fix it and decided i'd rather be without a phone than give Nextel/Sprint another penny. I was told by the repair guys at nextel that all my phone numbers were lost I had over 2 hundred important numbers and now becuse of nextel i was responsible to pay. And to my surprise they even told me that THE MODEL PHONE I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH WAS RECALLED NOT TO LONG AGO AND THAT 80% OF THER REPAIRS ARE FOR THE MODEL I860! I was under the impression that when something is recalled the company is responsible for repacing it. Am I right? So now i am stuck without a phone, binded to another year on my nextel contract agreement, and without the money to break the agreement or to get a new phone.
Someone help i know i know i'm not the only one with this problem! There has to be something we all can do together because i am ready to protest, go to court, or do whatever to make them take responsibility! At
