I was told that I could receive new phones after one year at no charge. I had a 2-year contract. After one year, I requested new phones. They would not give them to me unless I signed a new contract, which costs more money.

This appears to be a common selling point. Don't believe they will give you new phones after one year, without raising your service fee and contract terms.
