Here is a case of buyer beware. I signed up with cingular through sbc. I was told one price and charged another. I just contacted cingular because i wanted to make sure that i was paid up so i could cancel my contract, this is when i'm told that my contract isn't up until february of next year. The phone is dead. I took it to a local cingular office to have it checked because i'd been having so much trouble with it. There i was told that my contract was up in november and i have a witness to prove this. I just got off the phone with cingular and was told my contract isn't done until february of next year. So i asked if i had to still pay for the contract being that the phone is dead, and i was told yes. But i was given the option to upgrade. I could purchase a new phone with a one year contract for an outrageous amount of money or take out a 2 year contract for even more. I told them i didn't want another phone or a new contract.
Here is where it gets good. If i didn't take out a new contract i'd have to pay full price for another phone and still pay my monthly service fee as required by the contract i'd signed up for. So basically i'm stuck with a phone that's dead and 4 months of payments on a dead phone. It's either that or pay a penalty for canceling my contract early. So please think twice before going with cingular and if you don't have a lawyer go over your contract so you know what you getting yourself into, because believe me they'll tell you one thing and you'll get something totally different.
