Salesman lied and changed contract

We signed up for Verizon and were supposed to be signing a one year contract. We had looked over the contract and were satisfied with it then the salesman got talking to us about different phones and started showing us some, trying to up sale from the model we had chose. We thought about it and talked between ourself (my wife and I). Deciding not to go with the more expensive phones we just decided to sign the contract and head home. We went back over to the sales counter where he was waiting for us and noticed he was writing our names on the first page of the contract but we thought nothing of it at that point because we had already looked over the entire contract to ensure that both phones were on a one year contract. Well that one year rolls around and we go to upgrade our phone and we find out that one of the other pages had been altered and changed to a 2 year contract and since we signed it and supposedly initialed nex to the cross out area of the one year. We we did not have a copy of on our copy but that didnt matter to them. We were stuck for another year. I don't want anyone else to have this problem to I urge you once you read the contract dont let it out of your site.
